As all of my loyal blog followers know, one of my absolute favorite authors is Rachel Vincent. I have a love/hate relationship with her Soul Screamers series. I loooove it, but hate the fact that it makes me a crazy fan girl who hates the long wait between books! When Judith Graves announced that best selling author Rachel Vincent would be one of the authors headlining the Crossroads Blog Tour, I was thrilled. If you haven't read The Soul Screamers books you are seriously missing out. Because having one awesome series isn't enough :) Rachel also has the Shifters series as well which is just as amazing, but an Adult series while the Soul Screamers is YA. Enjoy our interview with Rachel below!
Nope. For the most part, I’m not a re-reader. I like new, shiny things. But I did re-read both Swan Song and The Stand every summer while I was in college.
What do you think is your greatest strength as a writer?
I wish I knew. I’ve been told by various people that I’m a character writer, an intricate plotter, and a natural world-builder. I find it hard to believe any of that (I’m still surprised that anyone’s willing to publish me at all) and honestly couldn’t tell you which part I’m the best at.
How many books will there be in the soul screamers series and shifters series?
The Shifters series is complete at six books. I’m currently contracted for seven Soul Screamers books and four online novellas, one of which was previously published in a print anthology.
What is your favorite snack food?
Texas snack mix. It’s a chili-flavored trail mix that Target carries. I rarely let myself eat it, though. It’s a wonderland of carbs. ;)
My Soul To Take is the first book in Rachel's Soul Screamers series. Here is the synopsis from Goodreads - She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally. Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.
Stray is the first book in Rachel's Shifters series! Here is the synopsis of the first book from Goodreads - There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . . And I'm one of them.
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds. Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.
I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .
Be sure to add these books to your to-be-read shelf! If you've already read them, let's dish! I LOVE these books and have seriously considered starting a fan site support group forum for those of us that go through withdrawal while waiting for the next Soul Screamers book!
