Welcome to day three of the Best I've Read 2011 blog tour! In case this is your first day visiting, let me explain to you what the BIR tour is. There is a group of us that submit our favorite books of the year to our amazing organizer Cindy. She then tallies up all the submission and creates a list of our favorites. On the Best I've Read 2011 blog, we feature those authors, then each participating blog also features an additional list of authors that aren't on that list of their choice. Fun right?! Today the author I'm featuring is WHERE SHE WENT by Gayle Forman.
WHERE SHE WENT is the sequel to the amazing IF I STAY by Gayle Forman. These are by far two of my favorite books ever. If you haven't read them, I highly recommend you add them to your to be read pile, you will thank me, trust me! Here is a small excerpt from my review of WHERE SHE WENT...Gayle Forman’s writing is similar to a song. Take a song you love for example… it envelops you, it speaks to you, it comforts you, it makes you think, makes your heart sing along… Gayle’s writing is just like that. She writes like a beautiful song. A song that will resonate in my heart for a long time. You can read my full review of WHERE SHE WENT by clicking HERE.
Synopsis of WHERE SHE WENT from Goodreads - It's been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future - and each other.
Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
Gayle was kind enough to answer some questions for me... check them out.
Two new books, called JUST ONE DAY and JUST ONE YEAR, respectively. They're love stories, travel stories, mysteries, and about how sometimes, looking for someone else, you might wind up finding yourself. Also, there's a bit of Shakespeare in there, too, which was kind of a shock to me, the same way Mia's cello-playing was a shock. I wasn't a big Shakespeare fan. Before. I am becoming one.
2. I have to tell you that my friend Connie is the one that designed the amazing Adam button (pictured below). They are the coolest! Have you had a lot of requests for them? If a reader who reads this wants one, can they be purchased, or how do they get one
The pins are beyond fantastic, aren't they? I can't keep up with the demand. And the only problem with them is the irregular shape means the post office keeps sending them back or wanting extra postage. I can't figure it out But people can email me at info at gayleforman dot com and I'll send a pin. US only. But they have to wait until I move. I'm in an interim apartment right now and everything is in boxes and storage.
3. What is a favorite tradition of yours you do each holiday season?
I'm Jewish so normally we have a big Hanukkah party but owing to that whole interim apartment situation--my family of four is in a large studio--it's not happening this year. We're going to California for Christmas and like all Jews, we will be enjoying a day at the movies and eating Chinese food.
4. Where do you picture Adam and Mia now?
Ahh, you should buy the paperback this spring and read the bonus material. There are hints of where I see Mia and Adam now.
5. What is your favorite song right now???
It's a tie between Everything Goes My Way by Metronomy or Little Secrets by Passion Pit, or, as they're known in our home, Love and Higher, respectively. If you listen to them, that'll make sense.
I am very excited to give away a copy of Gayle's WHERE SHE WENT. Please fill out the form to enter! Also, be sure to stop by the BIR blog today where the featured author is Julie Kagawa!

Yay for Team Adam!! Every time I am in a bookstore and see Where She Went I fish out a button out of my bag and leave it by the book. I need a shirt that says ask me about Team Adam, because I love giving the buttons away & talking about Adam :).
Whoopsie, Daisy! Seems that HTML doesn't want to cooperate! I'll be back, though, dying to grab a copy of this book... and apparently the paperback in the spring.
Great interview :) Super excited for her new books! I have yet to read Where She Went, but it's definitely on my tbr list :) I entered through the link in the html code, hope it worked!
Hi April,
